The Law Office of Richard B. Hein is in the historic old Brentwood Theatre Building located at 2525 S. Brentwood Boulevard, Ste. 102, Brentwood, Missouri 63144-2322.
This 700-seat theatre opened on March 14, 1942 with Shirley Temple in Kathleen. The Brentwood had more than its share of problems for a well-run theater on an affluent commercial strip in a good neighborhood; bogus bomb threats caused the movie house to be evacuated in 1965 and 1972, and a bungled 1968 burglary netted only $11.00 in change for the bandits, who were apprehended when the clang of dropped tire irons alerted the police to their presence.
In 1972, Billie Lasker, a pornography-fighting grandmother of some local fame, led 200 supporters to the offices of the County Prosecuting Attorney to protest the Brentwood’s screening of Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex but Were Afraid to Ask. A couple of years later, a long-simmering parking shortage came to a head when a large number of patrons received parking tickets and raised enough stink to inspire a newspaper article. A couple of years later, the owners of the lot behind the theater complained that the theater patrons were parking there without authorization, causing more bad press. When the AMC chain opened the four-screen Galleria multiplex a mile away, it was able to rid itself of the minor headache the Brentwood had become. It was subsequently gutted and put to use as office space.
