Dear Friends:
Since our last newsletter in the Spring of 2004, we have had some wonderful experiences, and we have had the opportunity to meet hundreds of new people. We are pleased to welcome to the Firm our newest legal assistant, Ms. Sylvia de la Cerda. Ms. de la Cerda was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and split her time growing up between that country and the U.S. She graduated high school at the Instituto Bethania in Guatemala as a bilingual secretary. She then served as Executive Secretary of the Guatemala's Armed Forces Bank. Thereafter, Ms. de la Cerda attended the American Technical Institute where she received a certificate in travel agency operations, as well as the Escuela Técnica Superior Alinari (Alinari Superior Technical School), where she received her diploma in Airlines and Travel Agencies. She graduated from the Management Support Program at Patricia Stevens College in St. Louis, Missouri with her Associate Degree in Applied Science.
On Sunday, May 16, 2004, The Hein Law Firm was pleased and honored to be invited by the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC) to present information about the Workers’ Compensation System in the State of Missouri at a seminar held at the predominantly Spanish-speaking Catholic Parish of Saint Cecilia in the City of St. Louis. Attorney Richard B. Hein offered the oral and written presentation in the Spanish language for the benefit of those in attendance, the majority of who were Hispanic laborers from the St. Louis metropolitan area. The Hein Law Firm is committed to providing current, correct and quality educational information to this underserved population in St. Louis and in the rest of the State of Missouri which perhaps has no other source of information.
Furthermore, The Hein Law Firm received prominent mention in the June 2004 edition of the newsletter of the Open Interamerican University located in Buenos Aires, Argentina about Mr. Hein’s invitation from the Dean of International Politics and lecture on April 16, 2004 about the origins of the American legal system and its effect on current international politics.
July 3, 2004 marked the one year anniversary since the visit of the President of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic, JUDr. Iva Brozova, to Mr. Hein’s home, along with a distinguished delegation including Jan Passer, Judge of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Justice officials, and a law professor from the Charles University in Prague.
With respect to current legal developments, in August, 2004, The Hein Law Firm brought to final resolution a rather complicated personal injury case on behalf of one of its clients who had suffered a debilitating cervical disc herniation with consequent invasive surgery involving discectomy, laminectomy, cadaver bone insertion and cervical fusion, followed by complications requiring additional medical treatment. The Hein Law Firm was successfully able to procure an out of court settlement for this client in the total amount of $204,152.00 in the notoriously conservative venue of St. Louis County.
Attorney Hein opened his own Law Office in May, 2003. Mr. Hein earned his law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1994. He also received his undergraduate degree in History, cum laude, from Saint Louis University in 1991. Mr. Hein was born and raised in St. Louis, and graduated from the St. Louis Priory High School. While in law school, Mr. Hein studied in the Centro de Estudios Universitarios at the Colegio de San Pablo, and served as a law clerk to one of the leading law firms in Europe, J. & B. Cremades & Associates, both in Madrid, Spain. He is a member of the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the Eighth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Missouri and the United States Supreme Court. If you or someone you know is in need of legal services, please contact Mr. Hein, as he always welcomes new clients.
